WiFi and a Whole Lot More with Archos MP3 Players

Portable media devices for music and videos are all the rage these days, and the Apple iPod is the definite leader in terms of market share and unit sales. That being said though, doesn’t insinuate that it is the only iPod on the marketplace that’s high-quality. There are quite a lot of outstanding alternatives to the ubiquitous Apple label that are equivalent not only in features but also in quality and cost. You can take the latest player from the Gen 5  line up of Archos  MP3 players as a prime example of this, as for the price and quality of the device it gets my highest vote. Recently I picked up the 80 GB 605 WiFi model, and with not a doubt in my mind I am joyful I made this acquisition and got rid of my iPod.

There are many characteristics that disconnect Archos MP3 players from the rest of the pack. Just like all of the other MP3 players it plays music, but with the 80 GB of storage that provides I have been able to put every album that I own onto it and still have plenty of room to spare. Many digital file types are supported, including .mp3, .wav, and .wma (protected or not). It is a really nice feature because it means that I don’t have to wait around for conversion software in order to download my songs. Features like this make it a much more versatile and convenient player than many other brands.

But the Gen 5 line goes well beyond simply playing music. The Archos line of MP3 players has  a very high quality 4.3 inch color touchscreen which is very simply turned on with the touch of a finger or stylus that’s included. This makes navigation through all of the diverse menus very effortless. The large monitor is also perfect for watching movies, TV shows, or streaming YouTube videos. It yields an amazingly sharp picture that is clearly visible in all kinds of lighting. I’ve seen people trying to watch stuff on their tiny iPod screens, and I just have to shake my head in sympathy. Why put yourself through that when the bigger, better Archos MP3 players are available?

What I love most about Archos MP3 players is the way I can handle all of my contents without having to be tied to a PC. I can download my songs and movies and other videos on the go because it has a WiFi connection. The Archos player also has the Opera Web browser included into it which makes it very effortless to surf the net, check my e-mail, and do all of the gameplaying that I want wherever I’m at. This isn’t something that’s possible with many of the other players out there. Most of the other brands leave you stuck in the mud when you’re not at a laptop and you can’t do an update until you are.

If you’re really considering the purchase of a portable media player, stand out from the horde and make the investment into something that’s a lot better than the name brand iPod. You won’t go wrong trying out the Gen 5  Archos MP3 player. They’re a lot more advanced than the competition and cost less. Receiving more for less… isn’t that what intelligent shopping is all about?
